Huddersfield Joint Omnibus Committee

Huddersfield is one of the largest towns in the country and is famous for fine worsted cloth, engineering (David Brown Tractors and Aston Martin chassis) I.C.I, the choral society and Harold Wilson who famously said "a week in politics is a long time".

The town's transport system operated trams, trolleybuses and motor buses and had a similar joint operation with the railway companies as was the case in Halifax.

The livery of light red and cream was very smart and various types of buses were operated notably AECs with Gardner 6LW engines resulting in an extended bonnet which did nothing to enhance the vehicles.  AEC, Daimler, Guy, Leyland and Karrier were amongst the various types operated, the Karriers originaly being made in the town.
