Chesterfield Corporation

Chesterfield began operations in 1882 with a tramway system and this continued until closure in 1927. The first motor buses were purchased in 1914 and further aquisitions were made during the next two decades. After the second world war Leyland, Daimler and Crossley vehicles were purchased with much of the bodywork being supplied by Weymann of Adlestone. It was unusual to see buses with gold lining when most other operators had dispenced with lining out in the interest of economy.
