Western National Omnibus Company

The Great Western Railway operated buses in the South West peninsular of England.  The National Omnibus Company and the Devon Motor transport Company also operated vehicles and eventually the Southern National and Western National Omnibus Companies were formed to take over operations in the South West.

Leylands and A.E.C.s were purchased in the early years but eventually Bristol became the principal supplier.  Dennis and Bedford were also favoured for use on routes where smaller vehicles were more suitable.

Much re-bodying of older vehicles was undertaken after the war due to a shortage of new vehicles thus enabling older buses to soldier on for many more years.

The Western National Omnibus Company was a British Transport Commission Company.
