 Northern General Transport.

It was in 1913 that Northern General Transport was formed and thus giving B.E.T. a considerable interest in the North East of England. The operating area was Newcastle, County Durham, Northumberland and into the Northern part of Yorkshire. Many other local companies were aquired over the years, some of which retained their separete operations and distinctive liveries.

In the early years of operations, buses were supplied by B.M.M.O., and later by Leyland and A.E.C.. During the war, many Guys were received and further purchases were made from this manufacturer during the 1940s and 1950s. The fleet became varied, vehicles being supplied by A.E.C., Daimler, Guy Leyland and a batch of very distinctive Routemasters.
